Nov 10, 2010 Diving Deep Into The Game Boy LCD Protocol. Maybe its different where you live but i didnt see a gameboy on sale for some years now. Dmg-01 replacement lcd (self.Gameboy) submitted 9 months ago by jmm07e. I've got a Gameboy with a broken LCD. The game starts and I can hear the sound, but the screen. I just got my Gameboy modded with an RGB Backlight and it looks a lot better than stock. It is a very playable experience with our spoiled eyes in this Mobile HD era. UTF-8 encoded CSVSo. those of you who dabble heavily on the electronics side of gameboys, exploring pin outs and functionality of the PCBs. is there any conceivable method for replacing the stock LCD with a modern backlit LCD? I've seen videos (timbob?) of video out from super gameboy to the DMG's LCD, and I believe another video showing the LCD PCB of the DMG outputting video to a MGB screen.
I know nothing of the requisites behind powering a modern LCD, or the difficulty in making the appropriate signal connections from the old old gameboy to modern LCD form factors, but It would obviously be really really cool.
So I guess I'm just curious what limitations or difficulties or impossibilities there are to this.
Edit: I'm not suggesting this can even be done. But I would like to see some enlightening discussion. Dance, monkeys!
